Examination of workers for jobs with special working conditions

The following must be brought to the examination:

  • RA-1 referral filled out by the employer who refers you to the examination
  • expired medical certificate (if you have one)
  • personal and health card
  • medical documentation/medical report if you suffer from some diseases/conditions
  • glasses and/or contact lenses (if you use them)

For jobs with special working conditions, the examination includes a clinical examination by an occupational medicine specialist, vision examination, ECG, spirometry, audiometry, laboratory analysis of blood and urine and psychological assessment as needed.

Examination of workers who work on computers

The following must be brought to the medical examination for working on a computer:

  • ID card or passport
  • expired medical certificate (if you have one)
  • medical reports of a specialist ophthalmologist (if you regularly check yourself for a certain disease and/or eye injury)
  • glasses and/or contact lenses (if you use them)

The examination consists of filling out a questionnaire, vision examination on an orthoreter, and, if necessary, counseling of the worker.

Examinations of night workers

A night worker works according to the working time schedule regularly during a day for at least three hours during night work, that is, during the calendar year, he works at least a third of his working time during night work.

For the health examination of a night worker, the following is required:

  • come on an empty stomach
  • ID card or passport
  • certificate of the chosen medical doctor not older than 1 month (except from the medical record regarding the current state of health)
  • medical documentation/medical findings if you suffer from some diseases/conditions
  • glasses and/or contact lenses (if you use them)

Why do workers have to undergo occupational medicine examinations?

The examination of workers is done for the purpose of determining the work ability to successfully perform a certain job. The examination determines the worker’s health capacity so that he can handle all the challenges and demands of the workplace without jeopardize the health and safety of himself and others. Usually, occupational medicine examinations are performed by workers who work in jobs with special working conditions (PUR).

Does the employer have to send workers to an occupational health examination?

The employer is obliged to refer the worker to a medical examination if it is necessary for the worker to fulfill certain health conditions to perform that activity. By determining the health capacity to perform a certain activity, it is checked whether the worker is medicaly prepared and able to respond to the demands and challenges of the work that needs to be performed.

Can the worker come to the occupational medicine examination by himself?

In principle, the employer refers the worker to an examination with the RA-1 form (referral) on which the working conditions and harms and dangers to which the worker is exposed during working hours are specified.
